Vermiculite

In 2010, WOLFF & MÜLLER opened Europe’s first vermiculite plant in Bulgaria. Vermiculite is extracted in open-cast mining. The extracted raw materials are processed into two different fractions using modern processing technology, with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes of concentrated raw vermiculite per annum.

Vermiculite is a universally applicable clay mineral. Its specific physical properties make it well-suited for use in the insulation industry, for fire protection and sound insulation as well as for transport packaging material and in horticulture, among others. Its use in hydroponics is just as important.
